The Community

Jesus said “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”  -Matthew 22:37-39 ESV

Food Pantry

We have food on hand for those in need. If you would like to make a donation or if you are in need of food, contact the church office. 503-399-9600. Volunteers from our church organize and maintain food to distribute to the community as needed.

Neighborhood BBQ and Classic Car Show

Every summer our church enjoys sharing a free BBQ in the parking lot for our community. There is music, activities for kids, good food, and a classic car show.  Many from the greater Salem area enter their cars into the show and those in attendance vote on their favorite!

Child Evangelism Fellowship

We support both the Polk County and Capital City Chapter of Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). CEF reaches kids in our community through 5-Day Clubs in the summer and after-school Good News Clubs during the school year.  Our members are involved with these clubs in both Polk and Marion counties.

CEF can always bring more people onto their team to help serve.  Many service commitments are just two hours each week.  For further questions regarding CEF, contact the church or CEF office (503-364-6499).

Vacation Bible School

Each summer Kingwood offers a Vacation Bible School for kids in our community. The children have a great time learning about a God who loves them and wants to know them.  Each night has a separate focus building on the theme of the week. The program includes singing with hand motions, games, a story time, snacks, a short cartoon clip, and science projects.

There are many opportunities including preparing snacks, leading a group leader, telling stories through drama, helping with games, taking pictures, and more!

Prayer Team

There is a team at Kingwood that prays for our members, visitors, and community.  They meet monthly, but pray daily. They perform a vital function lifting up needs and concerns before our great God. They have seen many answers to prayer. God does heal miraculously just like he did when Jesus walked on Earth. There is nothing that is too great for our God!

The Prayer Team is open to people dedicated to the Kingwood family.
